Mission and Vision
Research from our Center is historically and nationally recognized for the development of innovative approaches to investigate underlying mechanisms of toxicity, to improve human health, and to prevent environmentally related diseases. The greatest gains to be made in reducing the burden of human disease come from primary prevention of disease and improving the health-span of the elderly.
The forty-year investment by NIEHS in the OSU EHSC has provided a powerful combination of technology and expertise that is revealing new insights into environmental health science with broad health implications focused on three long term goals:
1) reducing individual susceptibility
2) assessing health risks at low exposures, and
3) investigating macromolecular interactions in the context of environmental agents, oxidative stress, and signaling.
The Center provides the technology, collaborations, and stability needed to foster innovation and tackle large, difficult experiments with enormous practical implications.
